"But
who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as
this? Everything comes from you, and
we have given you only what comes from your hand.
Introduction:
Stewardship – more than just a responsibility.
It really is a privilege!
I.
The privilege of devoting our time
to serve the Lord
* The greatest enemy of
the best is the good
A. By not allowing the good to
distract us from the best (Lk 10:41; Mk 1:37-38)
B. By recognizing the limits of our
abilities and our responsibilities (Serenity prayer)
*
Steven Covey time management illustrations: Make room for the rocks and
the water and sand will fall into place
II.
The privilege of devoting our talents
to building the church
* Your own unique
identity - fingerprint / DNA - the name God gives you
A. By discovering our identity
through releasing your anointing (
Rev 2:17
)
B. By discovering profound
satisfaction through service to God (Created to serve)
* Let God reveal your
identity by serving Him - volunteer, may it be satisfying
III.
The privilege of devoting our treasures
to advancing God's kingdom
*
I've recently grown to really appreciate the word devoted.
I've been asking myself what am I financially devoted to?
How does my devotion reveal itself in how I spend money and the things I
choose to purchase? (Josh 24:15)
A. By living undivided lives
(Devoted) - What is your money devoted to?
B.
By living simple lifestyles (De-accumulation) - Reduce stress by reducing
your possessions?
Conclusion:
As those who have received God's grace let's devote ourselves to our
Savior
Let's devote our time - not
allowing ourselves to be distracted by the good
Let's devote our talents -
discovering our God-given identity through service
Let's devote our treasures -
living undivided and simple lifestyles
