Twelve Months of Stewardship Quotes

THE GOOD STEWARDSHIP

Of

Time, Talents & Treasures

Thanks to Calvary Chr. Ref. Church, Orange City , IA for sharing this information.

JANUARY

God has created and designed us with a purpose in mind.  We are wired to care about some things more than others.  We have been given a passion.  We have been given spiritual gifts to completely accomplish ministry tasks.  We have also been designed with a personal style of relating to others and the world around us. – Bruce Bugbee

FEBRUARY

Think of each day as an opportunity for effective stewardship.  Time is a precious commodity and we have a limited number of days, hours and minutes.  Ephesians 5:15-16 advises “be careful how you live—not as unwise but as wise”.  It is similar to the well known motto “carpe diem”, the Latin admonition to “seize the day”.  The believers’ motto is “carpe diem por deo”, “seize the day for God”.  In other words live every day and use every opportunity expressly for His glory and purposes. –Stewardship Strategies, Kirk Nowery

MARCH

God does not need anything, yet, mysteriously He wants us to grow in grace by giving to him.  As we obey him in practicing this spiritual discipline, he blesses us accordingly.  Jesus said, “give and it shall be given to you.  Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, they will poor into your lap.  By your standard of measure it will be measured unto you.” –Injoy Stewardship Services

APRIL

There’s a statement of Jesus recorded in Acts that doesn’t appear in the Gospels.  Perhaps God added it later to it would stand out.  The Lord Jesus himself said “it is more blessed to give than receive” (Acts 20:25 ).  We’re so absorbed with getting what’s ours that we miss what brings real blessing and joy—giving to God what is his is doing what we were made for—loving God and our neighbors.  Giving affirms Christ’s Lordship. –The Treasure Principle, Randy Alcorn

MAY

Belonging to the Lord is a splendid spiritual relationship, but being spiritual doesn’t just mean having good feelings.  The spiritual is practical and effects all areas of life (time, treasure, talents).  If you belong to God so does all you have.  And if you accept God as owner you will show it in what you actually do with your gifts.  Back to God Hour

JUNE

Godliness is the result of a disciplined spiritual life.  But, at the heart of a disciplined spiritual life is the discipline of time.  If we are going to be like Jesus, we must see the use of our time as a spiritual discipline.  Jesus was able to pray to the Father, “I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do (John 17:4).  As with Jesus God gives us both the gift of time and work to do during that time.  Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life, Donald Whitney

JULY

I strongly believe that the way we live is a consequence of the size of our God.  Our  God is too small.  We are not convinced that we are absolutely safe in the hands of a fully competent, all-knowing, ever-present God.  That is why so many keep living as if everything depends on us. –John Ortberg

AUGUST

As Christians we cannot neglect God.  We cannot take His place in order to serve ourselves.  In the words of Jesus, “seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all things shall be added to you”.  By putting God first we reprioritize everything else in our lives.  It causes us to see things from a new perspective and to sense his presence at work within us. –Dr. David Jeremiah

SEPTEMBER

As a faithful steward Christ has come not to do his own will but God’s will.  A good steward Christ directs his ministry outward in service to creation.  Christ becomes the exemplar of stewardship.  Christ’s ministry of stewardship makes our possible.  Unless we take seriously Christ’s stewardship our calling as stewards becomes separated from the gospel. –Firstfruits: A Stewardship Guide for Church Leaders, Bob Heerspink

OCTOBER

Think of yourself as a manager of a trust, you have been given a key role and great responsibility, so make the most of it.  God himself has entrusted you with the time, money, material things and great opportunities.  Your objective is to maximize the investment of all that has been put into your hands. –Dr. John Maxwell

NOVEMBER

God is delighted when we give out of a willing and joyful heart.  He also desires that we give wisely.  Investing his resources and not squandering them.  Christians must be taught to recognize that giving is a life style, not an activity.  Giving emanates from the very character of God the perfect and eternal giver. --Dave Sutherland

DECEMBER

Not every believer is called to be a pastor but every believer is called to be a minister.  The words service and ministry are the same word in Greek.  We serve God by serving others.  We are all uniquely shaped by God to do certain things.  Nobody can be passionate about everything so we all have different roles to play in the body of the church. –Rick Warren
