Reflections 2

(It would be helpful if the scripture verse for the day was printed in the worship folder or displayed on an overhead screen.)

As we worship God with our offering this morning I would like to read a scripture verse and then ask you a question.

The scripture verse is from Matthew 6:19-21:
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

And the question is simply this:

What do you treasure most? Is it the things of this world such as clothes, cars and houses...or is it your relationship with God?

Would you think about that this week?

Let's Pray:

Father, as we bring our offering this morning we confess that it is so easy for us to get caught up in the things of this world. Help us to recognize that there are eternal consequences to what we treasure today. Help us to get our priorities straight. Help us to put you first in our lives. Amen.
