He will examine two trends that are influencing the way major corporations communicate today. “Donor Communications: The Essential Marketing Discipline”
~ Karen Layland, Director of Communications, Barnabas Foundation

Communications is, by far, the most difficult tool in the marketing mix to utilize effectively. Yet communications, and specifically donor communications, rightfully demand a place in your marketing mix. We will examine approaches to consistent communication and integration of planned gift opportunities into your donor communication program.

“Basics of Planned Giving Instruments” ~ Robert Zeilenga, J.D. and Steven J. Baker, J.D., Planned Giving
Attorneys, Barnabas Foundation
Many potential gifts are going untapped simply because your supporters are not aware of giving options and opportunities. One of Barnabas Foundation’s primary objectives is to assist your donors with Planned Giving expertise. To maximize your potential for planned gifts (probably the largest gifts you’ll receive), you must have a good understanding of the opportunities and instruments used in Planned Giving. The various types of gifts will be explained, their respective donor benefits described, and when each gift is appropriate. (If you’re new to planned giving, this session is a must!)
“Recent Developments in Planned Giving” ~ James Bakke, J.D., Director of Planned Giving, Barnabas Foundation
This session focuses on new and pending regulation rules and other development work. Recent tax law changes and court cases will be covered, as well as new gift planning ideas. Strategies for gifts of specific types of assets will be presented. Approaches to more sophisticated and complex gifts that might appeal to a select group of donors will be included. An interactive audience participation opportunity will conclude this session. (Especially designed for experienced development staff.)
“Donor Communications: The Essential Marketing Discipline”
~ Karen Layland, Director of Communications, Barnabas Foundation

Communications is, by far, the most difficult tool in the marketing mix to utilize effectively.
